Troop 139 hosts District Camporee
(article by Greg Ludowese)
We survived. April 13-15 Troop 139 hosted the Spring Camporee. The overall theme was Wilderness Survival. At the Camporee the other troop members were able to earn the Wilderness Survival merit badge. We started out Friday night at Gallagher Canyon, just upriver of Johnson Lake. Saturday the boys and adults of our troop were out and about running the various stations to meet the requirements for the Wilderness Survival merit badge. Saturday night we then tromped off to a canyon for the night. It was an amazing and one of a kind experience.
The troop had many members of youth and adult that showed up to help participate in this great event. We were only given reviews of greatness. I am personally glad that I had a hand on planning this event. It was a great time for our boys to go out there and have fun, as well as learn how to control and properly lead a group of peers in something that they enjoy.
